KEF Q Series: Classic Reborn
2024–2025
Creative Direction · Art Direction · Illustration

Project in brief
A hand-drawn campaign system for KEF’s Q Series relaunch.
A hand-drawn campaign language that brought emotion and cultural familiarity to the Q Series relaunch across film, print, merchandise and launch.
Created the final illustration system, led visual development and applications, art directed the film and independently designed the brochure; the campaign platform was collaborative.
Context & Opportunity
KEF’s Q Series is built on engineering credibility. The relaunch needed to preserve that authority while giving audiences a more emotional way into the product—through memory, culture and the everyday experience of music.
I led the campaign’s visual development: creating the final hand-drawn illustration system, art directing its use in film, designing the master applications and independently developing the product brochure. The campaign platform itself was shaped collaboratively with the wider team.
Creative Platform
Every Note Is…
“Every Note Is…” became an open narrative device: every execution could complete the phrase with a different feeling, memory or journey.
My role was to turn that shared copy platform into a distinctive visual language. Exploration became an astronaut in space; freedom and connection became a dove and guitar; an open road framed listening as a personal journey.
Because the idea was modular, the campaign could move between expressive storytelling and more restrained product communication without losing continuity.
I art directed the campaign film, shaping its visual tone, illustration integration and relationship between product, music and narrative.
Visual Development
Album covers, posters and analogue references defining the campaign tone.
Album artwork, cultural posters and analogue print helped establish the desired shift: tactile rather than clinical, collectible rather than purely technical.
I developed every final illustration from the initial sketch through composition, drawing and final artwork. Visible pencil texture, uneven linework and simplified metaphors introduced warmth while keeping the system controlled enough for a premium product launch.
The sketches establish the narrative and gesture of each piece; the completed visuals show how those ideas were resolved into a consistent campaign family.

Campaign System
Key Visual System
The illustration system was designed to sit beside KEF’s product-led layouts rather than replace them. Expressive key visuals carried the emotional story; cleaner executions carried specifications, product range and purchase information.
This division of roles allowed film, advertising and retail communication to feel related even when the amount of technical content changed.

Collateral & Merchandise
The campaign extended into tote bags and collectible postcards, giving the visual language a physical life beyond the launch communication.
Each application required a different balance of scale, material and detail, but retained the hand-drawn character that made the campaign recognisable.

Brochure & Launch
Product Brochure
I independently designed the Q Series brochure, including its editorial structure, typography, image hierarchy and page system.
The layout keeps technical information legible while using pacing and image scale to connect the brochure to the wider campaign.

Launch Experience
At launch, the key visuals appeared across venue screens and supporting physical touchpoints, bringing product demonstration, music culture and the illustrated identity into one environment.
The event was attended by more than 200 guests and received coverage from FeverSound and Post76.

Outcome & Credits
Outcome
The relaunch gained a warmer and more human visual layer without losing the clarity associated with KEF. One campaign idea travelled across film, editorial design, retail, merchandise and the launch experience.
